Shopify Editions Winter 2024 includes many innovations and updates aimed at improving the user experience for both store owners and developers on the Shopify platform.
Here are some key innovations:
Product Variant Limit Increase
Up to 2000 variants per product are now supported thanks to the new GraphQL product API, which greatly expands the possibilities for creating more complex product catalogs.
❗️ Nothing has changed with the number of product options. It is still possible to have only 3 product options, e.g. size, color, style.
Checkout Extensibility.
Shopify Plus now offers even more ways to customize the checkout process, including extensions to the Thank You and Order Status pages. This gives merchants and developers the ability to customize the look and feel of these pages.
Shopify Magic / AI
Introduction of Shopify Magic, artificial intelligence-based tools including image editing and automated content creation capabilities to improve product descriptions and speed page creation.
❗️ Still Shopify Magic doesn't show up in my test stores or in customer stores. I think they have a very limited number of users so far.
Shopify Subscriptions App
A free subscription management app directly from the Shopify admin, allowing users to modify or skip subscription orders, improving customer interaction and lifecycle.
Enhanced B2B Capabilities
New features to improve engagement with business customers in Shopify Plus, including support for sales reps and the ability to create unique discounts exclusively for B2B orders.
New Web Performance Dashboard
New web performance dashboard to track and optimize storefront performance based on key web acceleration metrics. Shopify's infrastructure has improved by 35% and the number of global access points has expanded.
Improved Payment Options
Including the ability for customers to save payment methods to expedite future purchases and automatic updating of outdated card details, which encourages successful transactions.
